Selective herbicide against broadleaf weeds in cereals
TARIKA® is a selective and systemic herbicide for the control of dicotyledonous (broadleaf) annual weeds in cereal crops.
TARIKA® is absorbed mainly by the leaves and, to a lesser extent, by the roots and is quickly transported to the points of development of the plant preventing cell division and weed growth. TARIKA inhibits the synthesis of the essential amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine by preventing the action of the enzyme acetolactate synthase.
Selectivity is based on its metabolism: cereal crops quickly break it down into inactive products, so they are not affected, instead sensitive weeds metabolize it little or not at all, and stop growth a few hours after treatment with visible symptoms such as yellowing or necrosis.
